Pau Terol (1982 Reus, Spain) From his childhood he has been in contact with music due to a strong musical background in his family. He began music lessons at her aunt's music school (Escola de Música Xilòfon de Reus) in which he spent a lot of years studying classical piano, ear trainig and traditional harmony. Later, during his high-school years and due to Jordi Carreras (his mathematics professor) he discovered the jazz music and decided to learn more about this style. At the same time, he met Jaume Juan Magriñà (the Keyboard Jazz Lounge owner in Reus, Spain). Jaume taught him the jazz history through his LPs collection. During that time and together with his friends Jacob García on the bass and Roger Jansà on the drums, Pau created a jazz group called the Jazz Connection Trio. With this group he made his first steps into the jazz, playing transcriptions of the masters Ahmad Jamal, Oscar Peterson, Monty Alexander and Erroll Garner, who became his main influences and favorite pianists.

His interest for jazz piano and improvisation let him to study at the Taller de Músics in Barcelona. In the summer of 2001 he went to the music seminar Umbria Jazz in Perugia (Italy) organized by the american university Berklee College of Music. There, he was able to share classes, jam sessions and concerts with musicians from every corner of Europe and Berklee professors. The experience was so fulfilling that he decided to return the following year. During this period he attended L'Aula de Música Moderna i Jazz in Barcelona where he continued his studies in piano, improvisation, arrangements, harmony and music technology. He also took private lessons with the music educator Enric Alberich, with him he not only immerse deeper in those fields of study but he also encourage him to attend Berklee. After applying for a Berklee audition, he received the "World Scholarship Tour". This same year he graduated from L'Aula de Música Moderna i Jazz in Barcelona.

In September of 2005 he moved to Boston and began at Berklee, studying piano jazz mainly with Frank Carlberg, JoAnne Brackeen and Ray Santisi, classical piano with Ed Bedner and improvisation with Ed Tomassi. The same Fall of 2005 he recorded the album Night Dancers with the Paolo Lattanzi Group, the Italian record company Silta Records released the CD. In March of 2006 the Berklee piano department awarded Pau with the "Piano Performance Achievement Award" for his recording Warming Up. In September of 2007 he is selected to be the pianist of the Berklee Contemporary Symphony Orchestra conducted by Peter Cokkinias. And in Dicember of the same year he earned a degree in Piano Performance with the honor of "Magna Cum Laude". Since January to May of 2008 he combined teaching and performing in the Boston area, and from May until today he continues with it in Los Angeles.

Pau Terol has performed in different jazz festivals and music cicles in Spain, like the Reus International Jazz Festival (Spain) editions 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2008, Tarragona International Dixieland Festival (Spain) edition 2004, Summer Chamber Music Cicle in Reus 2006, etc. He has played with musicians like Dave Mitchell, Esteve Pi, Ximo Tébar, Pere Loewe, Dimitri Skidanov, etc.
